Computerized Visual Communication
Also known as: C-VIC
A computer-based assistive technology system that enables people with aphasia to communicate by arranging icons and images on screen to form sentences, which can then be translated into spoken or written language. C-VIC systems use structured visual vocabularies where users select and sequence pictorial symbols representing words and concepts. Research has shown that these systems can significantly improve communication ability for people with aphasia, though their effectiveness is often limited by the size and flexibility of their icon vocabularies.
