ESP Game

Also known as: Extra Sensory Perception Game

A human computation game, created by Luis von Ahn, in which two randomly paired online players are shown the same image and independently type words to describe it, earning points when their labels match. The ESP Game was designed to generate accurate, human-validated labels for large numbers of web images — a task difficult for computers but easy for people. The resulting labeled image database has been used in accessibility research to source tagged images for assistive communication systems, providing an alternative to professionally designed icon sets for people with language impairments.
