Novint Falcon

A consumer-grade 3D haptic input device originally marketed for gaming that has been widely adopted in accessibility research for providing force feedback to people with visual impairments. The device features a grip attached to three arms that can exert forces in three dimensions, allowing users to feel virtual objects, textures, and resistance. In accessibility applications, the Novint Falcon has been used to make charts, graphs, maps, and other visual information explorable through touch, with forces guiding users along data lines, pushing them toward data points, or conveying relative values through varying resistance. Its relatively low cost compared to research-grade haptic devices made it a practical choice for accessible data visualisation prototypes.
