Standard Human Interface
Also known as: SHI
A concept within the Pervasive Accessible Technology framework referring to a standardized set of input and output capabilities — including microphones, speakers, touch screens, glidepoint touchpads, kiosks, infrared devices, and video cameras — that serve as the physical point of interaction between users and information systems. The Standard Human Interface requires standardized programming interfaces for speech, video, touch, and an accessibility access port, enabling consistent interaction across different platforms and devices for people with diverse abilities.
