Ambient Intelligence

Also known as: AmI

An environment enriched with networked, sensor-equipped devices that are sensitive and responsive to the presence and needs of people within it. Ambient intelligence systems anticipate user requirements by learning preferences and behaviours over time, and adapt their responses accordingly. For people with disabilities, ambient intelligence can provide context-aware assistance — adjusting lighting, temperature, or information presentation — without requiring deliberate interaction with controls.
