Notetaking
Also known as: Note-Taking, Note Taking Service
The practice of recording key information from spoken presentations, lectures, or meetings, either by the individual or by a designated notetaker as an accessibility accommodation. In educational accessibility, professional or peer notetaking services are commonly provided for students with disabilities who cannot simultaneously listen to a lecture and write notes — including students who are deaf or hard of hearing, those with learning disabilities, visual impairments, or motor disabilities. Notetaking accommodations may involve human notetakers, audio recording, real-time captioning, or speech recognition technology. The shift toward automated alternatives such as lecture captioning and AI-generated summaries is gradually supplementing traditional notetaking services.
