Integrated Control System
Also known as: Integrated Control
An assistive technology approach where a single input device serves multiple control functions, such as wheelchair navigation, mouse cursor control, and text entry. Integrated control systems reduce the number of separate devices a person with a disability must manage, lowering cost, complexity, and the physical demands of switching between tools. This approach contrasts with dedicated single-purpose access devices and is particularly relevant for power wheelchair users whose joysticks or touchpads can be repurposed for computing tasks.
