Assistive Technology Delivery
Also known as: AT Service Delivery, Assistive Technology Provision
The process of identifying, selecting, providing, and supporting assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. Effective AT delivery involves assessing a person's needs and abilities, matching them with appropriate technology, providing training and instructional strategies, integrating the technology into their workplace or educational environment, and offering ongoing support. Professionals responsible for AT delivery include rehabilitation engineers, assistive technology specialists, occupational therapists, and special educators. Research has shown that poor technology-to-person matching and inadequate training are major factors in assistive technology abandonment.
