Design Pattern
Also known as: Interaction Pattern, Pattern of Assistive Interaction
A reusable, generalised description of a solution to a commonly recurring design problem, expressed in a way that can be applied across different contexts without prescribing a specific implementation. In assistive technology design, interaction patterns describe the functional role that a technology plays in assisting a user — for example, operator (performing a task for the user), reminder (prompting about upcoming events), monitor (watching for unusual situations), or guide (explaining how to do something). These patterns provide a common vocabulary for designers and users to discuss what an assistive technology does, independent of its technical implementation, and can be composed together to create more complex applications.
