Cyber Crumb

Also known as: Digital Crumb, Electronic Breadcrumb

A concept in accessible wayfinding where tiny, inexpensive solar-powered digital chips are placed along building walkways like a trail of breadcrumbs, storing location-specific information that can be wirelessly transmitted to assistive devices. Developed by David Ross and Alexander Lightman as part of the Talking Braille system, Cyber Crumbs form a ubiquitous computing network that provides orientation and navigation information to people with vision loss as they move through indoor spaces.
