Haptic Magnetism
Also known as: Force Attraction, Haptic Gravity
A technique used in haptic interfaces where virtual attractive forces pull a haptic device (such as a stylus) toward nearby virtual objects, simulating a magnetic or gravitational effect. In accessible virtual environments, haptic magnetism helps blind users discover and reach objects more easily by guiding the device toward targets once they are within range. Research shows it works best as a supplementary navigation aid rather than a primary method, as the attractive forces can sometimes interfere with the user's intended movements.
