Information and Communication Technology

Also known as: ICT

A broad term encompassing all technologies used to handle information and facilitate communication, including computers, mobile devices, software, networks, and digital media. In the context of accessibility, ICT refers to the full range of digital products and services that must be made usable by people with disabilities — from websites and mobile apps to kiosks, ATMs, and telecommunications systems. Many accessibility laws and standards, such as the European EN 301 549 and the US Section 508 refresh, frame their requirements in terms of ICT accessibility to cover the widest possible range of digital technologies beyond just web content.
