Accessible Education

Also known as: Inclusive Education

The practice of designing educational environments, materials, and technologies so that all students, including those with disabilities, can participate fully and equally. Accessible education encompasses physical accessibility of classrooms and campuses, digital accessibility of learning platforms and course materials, provision of accommodations such as captioning and sign language interpretation, and the use of assistive technologies. It is grounded in principles of universal design for learning (UDL) and supported by legislation such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act in the United States, and equivalent laws internationally.
