Speech User Interface
Also known as: SUI, Voice User Interface, VUI
A user interface that enables interaction with a computer or device primarily through spoken language rather than through physical input devices like keyboards, mice, or touchscreens. Speech user interfaces use speech recognition to interpret user commands and may provide auditory feedback through synthesised speech or audio cues. In accessibility, SUIs are critical for people with motor impairments who cannot use conventional input devices, as well as for blind and low-vision users. They are used in voice assistants, voice-activated software, telephone-based interactive systems, and specialised applications like voice-driven programming editors.
