Orca
Also known as: GNOME Orca
A free, open source screen reader for the GNOME desktop environment on Linux and Unix-like operating systems. Orca provides access to graphical applications through speech synthesis, braille output, and magnification. It uses the AT-SPI (Assistive Technology Service Provider Interface) accessibility framework to query and interact with applications. Orca supports scriptable customisation, allowing users and developers to tailor its behaviour for specific applications. It is the default screen reader included with many Linux distributions including Ubuntu, Fedora, and Debian, making it the primary assistive technology for blind and low-vision users on Linux. Orca was influenced by the earlier Linux Screen Reader (LSR) project and replaced Gnopernicus as the GNOME desktop screen reader.
