Audiophotography
Also known as: Audiophotograph, Audio Photograph, Sound Photograph
A medium proposed by Frohlich and Tallyn in which a photograph is packaged together with an associated audio recording — typically ambient sound captured at the moment of the shutter, a spoken caption added afterwards, or both. For accessibility practice the audiophotograph is a natural fit for blind and low-vision users: audio provides the contextual and descriptive information that cannot be recovered from a silent image, and it supports later browsing, identification, and sharing without requiring visual inspection. Audiophotography has been used as the basis for accessible camera apps and photo-sharing tools that let visually impaired users take the lead in recounting their own experiences to sighted viewers.
