Grammaticality
Also known as: Grammatical correctness, Grammatical acceptability
The degree to which a sentence conforms to the grammatical rules of a language. In accessibility and NLP research, grammaticality is typically assessed via a 5-point Likert subjective judgement (e.g., "This sentence is grammatically correct") and is used as a component of fluency evaluation for generated text such as Automatic Text Simplification output, machine translation, or captions from automatic speech recognition. Grammaticality judgements have been validated as reliable across literacy levels among Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing readers, making them suitable for accessibility evaluations where the audience spans a range of reading skill.
