Entity Grid
Also known as: Entity-Grid Model
A model of local text coherence proposed by Barzilay and Lapata (2008) that represents a document as a two-dimensional grid: rows are sentences, columns are salient entities, and each cell records the grammatical role of that entity in that sentence (subject, object, other, or absent). Patterns of entity transitions across adjacent sentences serve as features for coherence-sensitive tasks including readability assessment, text generation evaluation, and summarisation quality scoring. For accessibility, entity-grid features help distinguish well-structured text that is easier to follow from fragmented text that is harder for readers with cognitive disabilities to comprehend.
