Digital Fairness Act

Also known as: DFA

A proposed European Union act intended to extend the Digital Services Act by targeting deceptive patterns, manipulative personalisation, and other forms of online interface deception across the EU single market. The DFA aims to close ambiguities in existing DP legislation by providing clearer definitions and stronger enforcement mechanisms. As of 2026 it remains under development; accessibility researchers have argued it could be fortified by referencing WCAG guidelines to justify claims that certain deceptive designs 'give more prominence to certain choices' in ways that are also inaccessible.
