Agreement Rate

Also known as: AR

A statistical measure used in end-user gesture elicitation studies to quantify how much consensus participants show when proposing gestures or interactions for a given task (referent). Agreement rate ranges from 0 (no two proposals are equivalent) to 1 (all proposals are identical); common thresholds interpret values below 0.100 as low agreement, 0.100 to 0.300 as medium, and above 0.500 as high. Agreement rate helps researchers decide whether a consensus gesture set can be recommended or whether personalization is needed, which is often the case for users with motor impairments.
