Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Also known as: GAD
A mental-health condition characterized by persistent, excessive, and often uncontrollable worry about a range of everyday situations, accompanied by physical and cognitive symptoms such as restlessness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension, and sleep disturbance. GAD commonly co-occurs with ADHD, autism, and depression, and significantly affects task initiation, time estimation, and focus in academic and workplace settings. In accessibility and digital well-being research, GAD is increasingly included alongside neurodevelopmental conditions under broader neurodivergence framings, recognizing that anxiety meaningfully shapes how people engage with productivity tools, social interfaces, and emotionally charged digital content.
