Employment Discrimination
Also known as: Workplace Discrimination, Hiring Discrimination
Unjust or unequal treatment of workers or job seekers on the basis of protected characteristics including disability, age, race, gender, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation. In the United States, disability-based employment discrimination is covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 501/503/504 of the Rehabilitation Act; comparable protections exist in EU directives, the UK Equality Act, and Canadian human rights codes. AI hiring tools, personality tests, and automated screening systems are a rapidly emerging source of disability employment discrimination, often operating below the threshold of current enforcement regimes.
