PrEmo
Also known as: Product Emotion Measurement Instrument
A non-verbal self-report tool for measuring emotional responses, developed by Pieter Desmet. PrEmo presents users with 14 cartoon-like icons representing seven positive emotions (joy, admiration, pride, hope, satisfaction, fascination, desire) and seven negative emotions (sadness, fear, shame, contempt, anger, boredom, disgust); users select icons and rate intensity on a Likert scale. PrEmo is valued in accessibility research because it minimizes verbal demands, making it suitable for older adults, users with cognitive or communication disabilities, and cross-cultural studies where translating emotion vocabulary is problematic.
