Mind Map

Also known as: Mind Mapping, Concept Map

A diagram that organises information radially around a central topic, with branches and sub-branches showing related ideas, supporting details, and their connections. Mind maps were popularised in the 1970s by Tony Buzan as a general study and note-taking technique. In accessibility contexts, mind maps have been used as an evidence-based intervention in aphasia therapy for structuring narrative tasks such as storytelling, and as a comprehension support for users with autism, ADHD, and other cognitive-communication impairments who benefit from spatial, hierarchical, and visual presentation of information rather than long linear prose or monologue.
