USDZ
Also known as: Universal Scene Description Zip
A 3D file format based on Pixar's Universal Scene Description (USD), packaged as a zip archive so a single file can carry meshes, textures, materials, and animations. USDZ is the default 3D asset format on Apple platforms and powers iOS 'AR Quick Look' and many retail 'view-in-room' experiences, making it a common distribution format for 3D product models in e-commerce. For accessibility, USDZ is relevant because it is the input for accessible AR product-exploration tools - material metadata embedded in USDZ files can be surfaced via speech for blind and low vision users, and mesh geometry can drive haptic feedback. Authors building accessible AR should ensure their USDZ assets carry descriptive material names and, where possible, semantic part labels.
