Embodied Skill Learning
Also known as: Motor Skill Learning
A view of learning in which acquiring a skill - such as a sign language gesture, a musical performance, a sport movement, or a rehabilitation exercise - depends on coordinated bodily action rather than on memorising symbolic information. Embodied skill learning emphasises repeated physical practice, self-correction, and timely feedback over passive observation of demonstrations. In accessibility, the framing matters because tools that only show videos or illustrations cannot help a learner judge or refine their own performance, which is critical for sign language acquisition and assistive-technology training.
