Consent

Also known as: Informed Consent

Voluntary, informed, and revocable agreement by a person to a particular action or interaction involving them - whether that is sexual activity, data collection, medical treatment, research participation, or interaction with an automated system. In accessibility contexts, designing for consent means making the request, the agreement, and the option to refuse or withdraw equally accessible across modalities, and recognising that consent given once does not extend indefinitely or to other actions. Verbal-only consent models can themselves be accessibility barriers for users who rely on non-verbal communication.
