Accessible Onboarding
Also known as: Inclusive Onboarding
The process of integrating new employees into an organization in a way that is fully accessible to people with disabilities, encompassing all required documentation, training, system access, and orientation activities. Accessible onboarding requires that every mandatory step — from completing tax forms and signing contracts to setting up IT accounts and accessing training materials — be achievable using assistive technologies. Common barriers include inaccessible PDF forms required by government agencies, onboarding platforms with poor screen reader support, training videos without captions, and physical orientation activities that exclude employees with mobility or sensory impairments. Organizations committed to inclusive hiring must audit their entire onboarding workflow to identify and remediate accessibility barriers before recruiting employees with disabilities.
